Advice Southampton developed from SASA which was a Big Lottery funded project to bring together all key advice providers and stakeholders in the City. Offering specialisms in providing advice to young people, people with disability, refugees and asylum seekers, older people and minority ethnic groups, the website www.advicesouthampton.com serves as a gateway to the network of advice providers.
Advice Southampton's aims are -
1. To collaborate to improve client access to the right advice at the right time.
2. To link with the wider sector to communicate more effectively.
3. For AS partners to work together to be more resourceful and resilient
4. To Increase capacity to deliver welfare benefits advice and numbers of volunteers
5. To collect data to support campaigns to influence local and national issues.
Advice Southapton Partners
To support independence and wellbeing and improve the quality of life for older people living in Southampton. Providing Information and advice for older people, volunteering opportunities, befriending, health and wellbeing programme, gardening service and computer classes.
Provide free, confidential & independent advice. The advice available helps people to resolve their debts, benefits, housing, legal, discrimination, employment, immigration, consumer and other problems. Appointments only.
We aim to improve the quality of life for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in Southampton, providing free advice and supporting people in accessing local services to which they are entitled. We believe in empowerment through education, and in practical action to support established and developing refugee communities.
We help arrivals to Southampton from the new A8 countries of the EU. We provide advice, signposting and support. We also organize & assist with cultural and social events to help with integration of those new communities with other established communities in Southampton.
We are a charity which offers free and confidential information, advice, counselling, support and advocacy for children and young people under 26 who live in Southampton and Hampshire. All our services are confidential and free to young people.
Southampton Advice & Representation Centre is a registered charity with a Community Legal Services Quality Mark. Here at SARC we specialise in welfare benefits law and employment law. We offer a wide variety of support on these issues to residents of Southampton and Eastleigh.
Southampton Voluntary Services (SVS) can provide you with independent support and a voice. What this can mean for a group is information on funding, charity law, working with committees, volunteers, publicity, in fact for any aspect of voluntary or community work they are able to offer advice and guidance.
